Nouryon

Nouryon was officially formed in October 2018 after AkzoNobel sold its specialty chemicals segment to Carlyle Group and GIC. The name Nouryon, is inspired by two of the company’s many pioneers, Jan Nourij and Gerrit van der Lande. Their headquarters are based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands with global presence in around 80 countries with a portfolio of industry-leading brands.

Nouryon’s diverse portfolio also includes products of interest to the pharmaceutical and personal care industry. In June 2020, they acquired the carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) business of J.M. Huber Corporation (CP Kelco). This has significantly broadened their portfolio of products in CMC, a sustainable, bio-based water-soluble polymer used as a thickener, binder, stabilizer, film former and matrix former for various pharmaceutical formulations.

They are committed to develop new and leading solutions with smaller footprints enabling customers to deliver benefits in more sustainable ways. Nouryon are leaders in specialty chemicals around the globe and have earned a place among the best performing companies in industry in terms of safety, sustainability, and reliability.
