JAPAN VAM & POVAL (JVP) was established in 1968 as Shin-Etsu Vinyl Acetate Co., Ltd and Unitika Chemical Co., Ltd. Later in 2002, these two companies were integrated to form JAPAN VAM & POVAL Co., Ltd. In 2005, it became a wholly owned subsidiary of Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. JVP is engaged in production and marketing of Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) and Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM, a raw material used in manufacture of PVA). In 2012, JVP started manufacturing and selling the pharmaceutical grade PVA "PE series", a water-soluble synthetic resin.
