KLEPTOSE
Betadex USP/NF, EP

Betacylcodextrins are cyclic oligosaccharides obtained from starch by enzymatic cyclization using cycloglycosyl transferases. Their hydrophobic cavity of the truncated cone formed by the betacyclodextrin ring can accommodate suitable guest molecules and complexes or inclusion compounds. An inclusion complex is a form of supramolecular complex in which one or part of a molecule, the guest or substrate is enclosed, entrapped, encapsulated or embedded with another molecular structure. Kleptose allows the formation of complexes with actives in the solvent or dry phase.
